German Sausage Barley Stew

Ingredients:

Gold Medal Pork Sausages or German Frankfurters, Russians or any one of the delicious sausages in our range!

750 ml

chicken broth (you can use store-bought or homemade broth)

500 ml

barley

1

onion, chopped

5 ml

dried oregano

10 ml

paprika

30 ml

butter, for cooking

 

fresh thyme or parsley for garnishing

Method:

  1. Heat a large pot and sauté the onions in butter.

  2. Add the chicken broth and bring to simmer.

  3. In a separate pan fry the Eskort sausages until they are partially cooked, then chop them up and return to the pan, adding the paprika and some salt.

  4. In the broth pot, add the barley and oregano.

  5. Add the sausages to the broth pot and leave to simmer for about an hour.

  6. Serve with some crunchy breadsticks or fresh rolls.

Optional extra: Add some carrots and leeks to your stew for extra flavour and colour!
