12 slices | Eskort Chicken Polony |
2 | French loaves |
| butter, for buttering |
1 packet | frozen potato chips or skinny fries |
1 | onion, thinly sliced |
10 ml | brown sugar |
20 ml | butter |
4 | tomatoes, sliced |
½ | cucumber, sliced |
1 | lettuce, shredded |
| cheddar cheese, grated |
| chakalaka, store bought |
Method:
Cut French loaves in half, then slice open lengthwise and spread with butter.
Cook chips according to packet instructions.
Slice polony, onion, tomatoes, cucumber and shred lettuce and grate cheese, set aside.
While your chips are cooking, in a pan on a medium heat, melt 20 ml butter and start sautéing the onio. Once onions are soft, add the brown sugar.
Cook until onions are soft and caramelised, remove from heat and set aside.
Layer your quarters of French loaf with chakalaka, slices of polony, caramelised onion, tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce and then pack the soft chips on top of that, end with a little more chakalaka and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese.
Close the sandwich and serve!
