Cheesy Sausage Rolls

Warm, flaky, cheesy…there’s no beating these quick n’ easy cheesy sausage rolls as a perfect snack.

Eskort Cheese Griller

2 rolls

puff pastry, defrosted

20 ml

olive oil


red onions, cut in half and thinly sliced

30 g

brown sugar

200 g

cheddar cheese, grated


egg, lightly beaten


salt and ground black pepper


Spray n’ Cook


  • Preheat oven to 200°C and grease a baking tray with spray n’ cook.

  • Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add onions.

  • Cook onions until softened stirring often, add sugar and stir, cook for a further 5 minutes or until caramelised.

  • Remove pan from stove and set aside to cool.

  • On a floured surface, lightly roll out 1 puff pastry roll, remove creases and bumps (don’t roll too thin or pastry won’t puff up during baking).

  • Cut each pastry sheet into 4 squares and brush with beaten egg.

  • Spread about a 15 ml of the caramelised onion over the bottom part of the pastry, sprinkle with some of the cheddar cheese and top with a cheese griller.

  • Roll up pastry around sausage, brush with some more egg and place seam side down onto your baking tray.

  • Repeat the process with the remaining puff pastry, onions and sausages.

  • Sprinkle sausage rolls with salt and pepper.

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until sausages are cooked through and pastry is golden.

  • Serve with tomato sauce or sweet chilli sauce and a side salad or on their own as a quick snack.
