Crumbed Pork Chops & Tomato Relish

Local is lekker! A standard dinner over the years that’s been a constant favourite, because it’s simple yet #JustDelicious!

Tomato relish


1 clove

garlic, finely chopped


onion, finely chopped

30 ml

olive oil

1 x 410 g tin

chopped tomatoes

15 g

tomato paste


salt and ground black pepper, to season

10 ml

Worcestershire sauce

10 ml


125 ml


Crumbed pork chops

100 g


30 g

fresh parsley, finely chopped

5 ml

dried thyme

45 g

Parmesan cheese, finely grated


lemon, zest


eggs, beaten


  • Pre-heat oven to 180°C.

  • Heat oil in a small pot and sauté the onions and garlic.

  • Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and water and cook the sauce until it has a thick chunky consistency.

  • Turn heat off, cover and leave to stand.

  • Place breadcrumbs, parsley, thyme, parmesan and lemon zest into a shallow bowl and mix well to combine.

  • Lightly beat pork chops with a mallet or rolling pin to flatten them slightly, season the pork chops lightly with salt, then dip into the beaten egg and then into the breadcrumbs.

  • Repeat with all the chops and leave to rest on a baking tray for about 30 minutes.

  • Place the pork chops in the oven for about 35-40 minutes.

  • When golden brown and crispy, serve with the tomato relish.

  • Serve with mash potato, baked potato or starch of your choice.
