This jaffle is a South African crispy twist on juicy rib burgers that’s oozing with flavour.

500 g

Eskort Rib Burgers

250 ml (1 C)

red onion, caramelised

250 ml (1 C)

cherry tomatoes, charred

250 ml (1 C)

cheddar cheese

250 ml (1 C)

mozzarella cheese

60 ml (¼ C)


60 ml (¼ C)

sliced gherkins


seedless burger buns

45 ml (3 T)



  • In a frying pan over moderate heat, fry the Rib Burgers for 5 - 6 minutes on each side, turning frequently.

  • Preheat the jaffle iron over a moderate heat.

  • Slice burger buns in half and butter the insides of the buns.

  • Place the buttered sides facing the jaffle iron and top with half a rib burger patty, onion, tomatoes, cheddar, mayo, mozzarella and gherkins.

  • Close with the other half of the bun and toast in the jaffle iron for 3 - 5 minutes on each side.
