- This promotional competition opens on 20 July 2026 and closes at 23:59 (SAST) on 22 November 2026. Any entries received after the closing date and time will not be considered.
- This is a promotional competition conducted in terms of section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. It is not a lottery, as defined in the Lotteries Act 57 of 1997, in that success in the competition depends predominantly on chance and no payment over and above the normal selling price of the qualifying product is required to enter.
THE PRIZE
- The Prize is one 2026 Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 4×4 Raider 6AT to the value of R776,435 (VAT Exclusive), labelled the “Braai-Lux”, including a personalisation/conversion to a maximum value of R500,000 (VAT Inclusive) and a Braai with Bongi Mbonambi.
- The Braai-Lux and its personalisation/conversion is created for the purposes of this competition the Toyota Braai-Lux is not a commercially available vehicle in South Africa.
- The vehicle depicted or represented in any marketing, advertising or promotional material relating to this competition is for illustrative purposes only and may not be an accurate reflection of the actual prize. The actual Prize vehicle may differ in specification, colour, trim, accessories or personalisation/conversion detail from the vehicle shown in such material.
- The Winner acknowledges that, for the duration of the Competition, the prize vehicle was used for display and promotional purposes and, as a result, accumulated mileage prior to handover. The Winner accepts that the vehicle will not be delivered with zero (0) kilometres on the odometer.
- The prize vehicle will be awarded to the winner at the handover event. At the handover event, there will be a braai section where the Winner will be invited to join Bongi Mbonambi for the duration of the braai for the remainder of the handover event.
- Should the Winner send a representative to attend the handover event in their place, the representative will be invited to the braai in the Winner’s stead, and the Winner forfeits their own attendance of the braai with Bongi Mbonambi.
- The braai with Bongi Mbonambi is not redeemable at a later date and becomes null and void after the day of the handover event.
- Any Prize not taken up for any reason within one month of notification will be forfeited.
- The Prize is not exchangeable, transferable or convertible to cash, in whole or in part.
- A single participant or identity number may win only one Prize in this competition.
- In the event that the Prize (or the specified vehicle derivative) becomes unavailable despite the Promoter’s reasonable efforts to procure it, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, subject to clause 47 below.
HOW TO ENTER
- To enter, participants must purchase any Eskort product from a Checkers store or through the Checkers Sixty60 app during the competition period and swipe their Checkers Xtra Savings card at the point of sale when paying for the qualifying purchase. A valid, correctly linked swipe of the Xtra Savings card against a purchase with qualifying Eskort products constitutes one entry into the competition.
- Entry into this competition is determined by the identity linked to the Xtra Savings card swiped at the time of a qualifying purchase — it is that cardholder’s identity and account details that will be used to register the entry, regardless of who physically made or paid for the purchase. Accordingly, in order to enter, an individual must swipe their own, personally registered Xtra Savings card. Where a purchase is made using another person’s Xtra Savings card, the entry will be registered against that other person (the cardholder), and not against the individual who made the purchase.
- Each qualifying transaction counts as one entry only. Purchasing multiple Eskort products within a single transaction does not generate multiple entries — one full transaction, regardless of the number of qualifying Eskort products it contains, constitutes one entry. To obtain more than one entry, a participant must complete separate, distinct transactions.
- Participants who do not yet have a Checkers Xtra Savings card may register for one, free of charge, in-store or via the Checkers Xtra Savings app, provided registration is completed before or at the time of the qualifying purchase.
- Participants may enter as many times as they wish, provided that each entry is linked to a separate, valid qualifying purchase and is recorded against a single, correctly registered Xtra Savings card and account.
- Entries will only be recognised where the contact details and other information held on the participant’s Xtra Savings account are accurate and up to date. If a participant (including a shortlisted or winning participant) has incorrect contact details on record, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify that entry or select another participant in accordance with these rules.
- Only purchases made at Checkers stores in South Africa during the competition period qualify. The Promoter reserves the right to declare any entry invalid where it cannot be matched to a valid qualifying purchase.
WINNER SHORTLISTING AND SELECTION
- After the closing date, the Promoter Agent (Checkers) will randomly select six (6) qualifying entrants from all valid entries received during the competition period. These six entrants will be shortlisted for verification and auditing of their entries against the requirements of these Terms and Conditions.
- Participants must be residing in South Africa, and must be able to produce a valid South African green-bar or smart-card identity document or valid passport, a valid South African driver’s licence, proof of residence, and a valid, correctly registered Checkers Xtra Savings card to qualify for selection of the shortlist for this competition.
- Shortlisted entrants must be able to be present in Gauteng to attend the final event, or must arrange for a representative to attend the final event in their place. Where a representative attends the final event on behalf of a shortlisted entrant and that entrant is selected as the Winner, the representative may not complete the legal handover of the Prize vehicle on the Winner’s behalf — the Winner must personally travel to Gauteng to complete the legal handover and collect the Prize vehicle.
- Once the six shortlisted entrants have been verified and audited, three (3) finalists will be randomly selected from among them (“the Top 3”).
- The final winner will be selected from the Top 3 by means of a random draw conducted at a final event.
- The Promoter (Eskort) will cover flight costs, should they be required, for the Top 3 finalists to attend the final event at which the overall winner is determined. These flight costs cover travel to the event only — return flights are not included, and the Promoter will not cover flights or any other travel costs for family members, friends, or other companions of the finalists.
- Should the overall winner (“the Winner”) be required to travel to collect the Prize vehicle, it will be the Winner’s own cost and responsibility to return and/or transport the vehicle back to the Winner’s chosen address.
- The Winner will be required to provide their original till slip(s), full name, identity number, a copy of their identity document and driver’s license, and current contact details, and will be contacted to acknowledge receipt of the Prize.
- The Promoter (or its agent) will endeavour to contact each shortlisted entrant and the Winner telephonically to verify their details. Where the required documentation or verification cannot be obtained within a reasonable period (not exceeding one week from first contact), that entrant will be disqualified and, where applicable, another entrant will be selected in accordance with these rules.
- Once verified, the Winner must furnish all required documentation to the Promoter’s appointed verification agent within three (3) days of confirmation of the telephonic call. If the Winner cannot produce the required documents within this period, the Prize will be forfeited and another winner may be selected in accordance with these rules.
VEHICLE SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
- The Winner will only be permitted to drive the Prize vehicle once the necessary legal handover process, including vehicle registration and paperwork has been completed at a relevant Toyota dealership. Before the vehicle will be released to the Winner, valid comprehensive insurance must be obtained. The vehicle may not be driven by the Winner or any other person until this has been confirmed.
- Neither Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd, Eskort (Pty) Ltd nor Shoprite Holdings Ltd
- will provide insurance cover for the Prize vehicle. Obtaining and maintaining valid comprehensive motor insurance for the vehicle is the sole responsibility of the Winner.
- The competition/sponsor vehicle wrap and branding must remain on the vehicle, unaltered, for a minimum period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of handover to the Winner. The Winner must promptly notify the Promoter of any damage to, or unfavourable or deteriorating condition of, the vehicle wrap or branding during this period.
- The Winner may not sell, donate, exchange or otherwise dispose of the vehicle or it’s features for a period of twenty-four (24) months following handover. Should the Winner wish to sell the vehicle after the (24) month period, Eskort reserves the right of first option to purchase it.
- From the date the Prize vehicle is handed over to the Winner, all costs, liabilities, risk and responsibility relating to the vehicle (including but not limited to licensing, maintenance, fuel, tolls, fines, damage, loss and theft) rest solely with the Winner. Neither the Eskort (Pty) Ltd, Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty), nor Shoprite Holdings Ltd will bear any responsibility for the vehicle once it is in the Winner’s possession.
- The Winner will be required to sign a written contract with the Promoter recording the Winner’s obligations in respect of the Prize, including (without limitation) insurance, the vehicle branding/wrap requirement, the resale restriction, and reasonable participation in related brand promotion and publicity activities.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
- The Winner may be required to sign an indemnity form and a media release form as a condition of receiving the Prize.
- A copy of these Terms and Conditions will be available at https://eskort.com/ for the duration of the competition.
- Failure to claim the Prize, or a refusal or inability to provide the required documentation, or failure to comply with any of these rules within one month of notification, will disqualify the Winner, and a new winner may be selected in terms of these rules.
- The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, damaged, delayed, incorrect or incomplete entries, however caused. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

- The Promoter reserves the right to use images of the Winner for publicity purposes in any manner it considers appropriate, without remuneration to the Winner.
- The Promoter may change or terminate this promotional competition immediately and without notice if this becomes necessary in its reasonable opinion, or if circumstances arise that are outside of its control. In such an event, participants agree to waive any rights they may have in respect of the competition and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Promoter or its agents, save as required by law.
- The Promoter reserves the right to amend or update these Terms and Conditions at any time, without prior notice, where it considers this reasonably necessary. The version of the Terms and Conditions published on https://eskort.com/ at the relevant time will apply.
- Neither the Promoter, its agents, its associated companies, nor any of their directors, officers or employees, will be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever, suffered by a participant or the Winner, except to the extent such liability cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
- Participation in this promotional competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, and participants agree to abide by them.
- By uploading images and/or stories to any media platform, participants grant the Promoter permission to use those images, stories, or any part of them, across any and all media for promotional and marketing purposes, with no consideration payable to the participant.
- The Promoter reserves the right to remove any information or content uploaded by a participant that the Promoter, in its reasonable discretion, believes is illegal, obscene, offensive, defamatory, infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights, or is otherwise inappropriate for a campaign aimed at a mass audience.
- Participants warrant that they hold full rights to any images or stories they upload, and that the use of that material will not infringe any third party’s copyright or other intellectual property rights.
