Plate the crispy fried bacon and serve with the maple and mustard sauce.
Crispy Fried Bacon Snack
Ingredients
- Crispy Fried Baco
- 200 g Eskort Rindless Streaky Bacon
- 125 ml (½ cup) flour
- 65 ml (¼ cup) Eskort Braai Spice/BBQ spice
- 2 eggs
- 65 ml (¼ cup) milk
- 250 ml (1 cup) bread crumbs
- oil for deep frying
- Maple and Mustard Sauce
- 65 ml (¼ cup) maple syrup
- 15 ml (1 tbs) whole grain mustard
- 30 ml (2 tbs) tangy mayonnaise
- 3 ml (½ tsp) green Tabasco
Method
- Preheat the oil in a large pot.
- In the first mixing bowl, combine the flour and braai spice or BBQ spice.
- In the second mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together.
- In the third mixing bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
- Coat each bacon rasher with the spiced flour, dip it in the egg mixture and then coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Place the coated rashers in the fridge for two to three minutes to set.
- Remove from the fridge and deep-fry the bacon in the hot oil until golden brown.
- After frying, place the crispy fried bacon on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
- Maple and Mustard Sauce
- Add all the ingredients to a small bowl and mix well.
