Hawaiian Smoked Pork Neck Burger with Crispy Onion Rings

  • pack Eskort Pork Neck Steaks
  • 4 seeded burger buns
  • 1 handful wild rocket
  • red cabbage, shredded
  • 410 g (1 can) pineapple chunks
  • 5 ml (1 t) fresh chilli
  • 5 ml (1 t) sriracha sauce
  • 125 ml (½ C) creamy mayonnaise
  • Onion Rings
  • 1 large red onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 large brown onion, sliced into rings
  • 250 ml (1 C) flour
  • 5 ml (1 t) salt
  • 250 ml (1 C) buttermilk


  • Burger
  • In a frying pan over moderate heat, fry pork neck steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • Mix red cabbage, pineapple chunks, chilli, sriracha and mayonnaise in a mixing bowl.
  • Onion Rings
  • Heat a pot of oil over high heat.
  • Season onion rings with salt and set aside for 1 minute.
  • Add flour to a bowl and coat each onion ring with flour.
  • Pour buttermilk into a separate bowl and dip the onion rings in the buttermilk.
  • Coat with another layer of flour before frying them in hot oil until golden.


Add the rocket to the bun, top with the cabbage and then add the chicken braai burger.
Serve with the onion rings and some more sriracha mayo.
