  • 500g Eskort Smoked Russians sliced 
  • 1 onion chopped 
  • 1 red pepper chopped 
  • 1 garlic clove chopped 
  • 1 tin peeled tomatoes
  • 1 tin tomato puree
  • 1 T paprika 
  • 1 T dried chilli 
  • Salt and pepper
  • Lasagne sheets 
  • ½ C butter or margarine 
  • ¼ C flour 
  • 3 C milk 
  • 2 C grated cheese (Cheddar/Mozzarella) 
  • 3 T oil for cooking


  • Heat a pot over a moderate heat. 
  • Add the oil, onion, garlic and pepper to the pan and fry for 5 min. 
  • Add the sliced Russians, peeled tomatoes, tinned tomatoes, paprika and dried chillies.
  • Allow to simmer for 10 min. 
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium low heat. Add flour and mix constantly for 1 minute.
  • Add the milk in, mixing as you go to incorporate into the flour mixture. 
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. 
  • Layer the lasagne by adding in the Russians in sauce first,followed by the white sauce and lasagne sheets.
  • Repeat the process and finish off with white sauce and grated cheese.
  • Bake the lasagne in a preheated oven of 200°C for 10 min.


To serve

  • Serve with fresh bread rolls or crusty bread.
