Ingredients for the Salad:

  • 4-6 Cups of leftover putu pap.
  • 2 C roasted corn
  • 1 red onion sliced
  • 2 carrots grated
  • ½ C jalapeno achar
  • Roasted red peppers
  • Oil for cooking
  • Salt and pepper


  • Get your braai nice and hot.
  • Start by frying your red onion in a shallow pan until they are soft. About 5 min. add the carrots and achar and fry for 5 more minutes.
  • Add your putu pap, corn achar and red peppers to a salad bowl.
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Braai your braai bacon for 5-7 min on both sides over a low heat.
  • Braai the rashers for 5min on each side also over a medium heat.


  • The salad can be served cold or warm, as a dressing I add plain yogurt or amasie with some paprika oil.
