Ingredients

  • 500g Frikkadels
  • 1 box “Smash”
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 2 Carrots Crated
  • 4 T Olive oil
  • 2 Garlic cloves Chopped
  • 2 T tomato paste
  • ¼ C Red wine
  • 1T Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 3T Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan over a moderate heat and add in the chopped onion and grated carrot and cook for 5 minutes stirring constantly.
  • Add frikkadels and leave until cooked. 5-7 min.
  • Fold in tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and wine, mix well turn heat down and allow to simmer for 5 min.
  • Follow directions on smash packaging to prepare it, as soon as the “mash is ready fowl in the cheddar cheese.
  • Place the frikkadels in an oven tray and place the mash on top.
  • Bake the cottage pie for 15 min.

Serve

  • Serve while it is still hot.
